What if I aim low? Like, “please include the letter c in your next commit”? Will that hit hard enough? Or should I go for a whole word? Come on, I need this!

Jerboa@lemmy.ml•Is there very little content on Lemmy or is the sorting algorithm used by either Lemmy or Jerboa not working super great?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of people making memes/jokes about the recent Titan tragedy?
1·3 years agoThe problem is that everything you’ve said requires actually knowing the person and their actions. I see people making massive assumptions to justify their hatred.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think of people making memes/jokes about the recent Titan tragedy?
1·3 years agoI think jokes and empathy can be somewhat orthogonal. In fact, I think any stable society/org requires a court jester. But dang, the amount of dehumanization, lack of empathy, and sometimes joy, I see is really scary. There are some angry, empty, people on the internet, that I hope to never meet in real life.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else hope the bulk of Reddit stays there?
1·3 years agoLots of reddit will find themselves unwelcome in Lemmy and by various instance admins.
Do you have some examples?

2·3 years agonear as much about republicans
That’s a pretty poor metric/goal, but you’re obviously right. But, dehumanizing large swaths of strangers is bad. That template, used by anyone, is bad. Full stop.

3·3 years agoPart of the issue is that the “nazi” line is being placed haphazardly. For example, this comment will be enough for some people to put me on the “nazi” side, without knowing anything about me.

3·3 years agoTo be fair, I see this said about republicans, and even center/independents, all the time. Dehumanizing is never good.
If I win, I’m going to double my keys and give them to the next person.

Programming@beehaw.org•How frequently do you use profilers/debuggers at work?
1·3 years agoEvery single day. They’re built into the IDE. It’s easier to use them than to not use them.

Well, there’s always whitespace!
