Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performanceEnglish
1·3 years agoLets say you want to access !memes@lemmy.ml using your .world account. Do not go to lemmy.ml. Stay on lemmy.world, go to the search bar, filter by communities, and type: !memes@lemmy.ml
Why? You can’t log in to a lemmy.world account from lemmy.ml or any other instance besides .world. You can only access things from other instances using the method described above (although you can subscribe to !memes@lemmy.ml from a .world account and have its content appear on your home feed)
Do keep in mind that Lemmy is still in its early stages, and there will be many new features in the future.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Permanent ban on last day with Apollo app. Called u/Spez a cunt in a message 😂English
3·3 years agoIronically, I accidentally found the saved part yesterday trying to find something I posted, but that was quite an informative guide! However, apparently something you save via the wefwef save button doesn’t actually save, the button seems just for show. Thought it was a .world bug at first, with the influx of Redditors happening yesterday.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The price of a cinema ticket in this day and age. No wonder people aren't going to the cinema anymore.English
1·3 years agoFor credit cards, companies sometimes charge a 2.xx% convenience fee because credit card companies take a 2.xx% cut, leaving them with only ~98% of what you paid them. But yeah, $6 convenience fee for a ~$55 purchase is absurd.

2·3 years agoHow would that work though?
Comment karma is harder to gain than post karma, which is why many Reddit mods (including me) use it as a metric instead of combined karma. That is what I intended to say. Sorry about the confusion.
That actually seems like a good idea! Account farms won’t be able to abuse the system anymore.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What was so special about the Apollo app?
4·3 years agoNot sure, wefwef works again now. Typing this on wefwef.
Damn, I didn’t know that. Wefwef is the best PWA I have used to date though, nice work!

2·3 years agoUsing wefwef on lemmy.world currently does not work, ruud says he broke something. It just gives a problem fetching posts error for me.

1·3 years agoIts a bit laggy, but that problem is inherent with webapps.
This is something I had neglected to think of. A reward/points system leads to bots farming for points, then selling the account. On the other hand, karma can be a good indicator to community moderators of weather that user isn’t just a spam account.
Edit: To clarify comment karma is a good metric for mods, not post karma. Its much harder to gain karma via comments because you can’t just repost r/oddlysatisfying shit, but that could change with GPT and open source LLMs.
Yep, wefwef karma seems to be client side. I have it too on my wefwef.
Edit: Am wrong, see response from developer below.

Wefwef is based off of Apollo. Apollo had a karma counter, and so does wefwef.

So… for the top menu bar, you copied macOS, complete with an Apple logo. Then, for file explorer, you is copied Windows 10/11. Everything else if your generic Linux distro. What are you trying to accomplish?
My analysis: OP is too dangerous to be left alive.
Here is the Apple logo, for those who missed it:
