Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats a good Linux distro to dip my toe in with in a laptop running Windows 11? Is there a decent longer form guide to doing it successfully?English
11·9 months agoI think you can’t really go wrong with trying ubuntu or linux mint. There are plenty of guides, most important thing is to back up your data in case you mess something up, you don’t want to lose any files over a silly mistake.

The former hospital company CEO oversaw what was the biggest case of Medicare fraud at the time. Under his leadership, Columbia/HCA gave kickbacks to doctors to refer patients and then made patients’ conditions appear worse than they were so Medicare would pay more.
When Scott was forced out of the company as it was under investigation, he left with $300 million in stock, a $5.1 million severance, and a $950,000-per-year consulting contract for five years. The hospital, meanwhile, was fined $1.7 billion, the largest health care fraud settlement in history until that point.
I mean sicko in the in the Stan Kelly sense lol, did not mean to have you catch a stray
You gotta be a real sicko to have the substack app installed and on top of that have their push notifications enabled

18·9 months agoI think it could happen, but it would have to be a foss app and a paid service or funded by ads, because you need paid people to moderate services like that, moderation on lemmy is about civility and people being mean to eachother, but moderation on a dating app might involve dealing with sexual assault and other illegal things in a much more prominent way. Or it would have to be funded by a government or charity which is not very likely in the present.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If Trump were to pass a EO lowering the Age of consent to 13. Would that finally be enough to break MagaEnglish
22·9 months agoI don’t think most people who voted for Trump care about the age of consent, biblically it’s not like there’s anything there designating something like that. They might care if he lowered the age of child marriage to 13, but even then that might not tank him.

ext4 would be normal for linux and windows is usually formatted as ntfs, there’s nothing abnormal with the partitions if you were trying to do just mint, unless the install messed with something weird in the bios I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t boot if you erased the drive while installing mint only, the installation should select that partition to boot without you having to do anything extra
Can you load in to the live usb for mint and see what it looks like when you open gparted? When you reinstalled did you select erase the whole drive or another option?
Here are two videos on clean installing either ubuntu and windows just in case.

Even if you want to keep on dual booting you’ll have to get one installed first anyways.
Tyler Oliveira fucking sucks, don’t promote him. Judging by your posting history you do not align with this guy politically, take a look at his recent videos, he’s accompanying ICE doing deportations.
often times if you had backed up any important files before doing this you are gonna waste less time by just doing a clean reinstall, but you can definitely try to troubleshoot fixing the boot

You very evidently don’t get it
