Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•CAPTCHA: Bot vs. Human. Bot wins.
8·3 years agoWell, apparently, statistically speaking he is more likely to be human according to the original post. We’ll never know.
I always liked Terminator because of the easy splitscreening.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What discontinued feature do you miss from phones or other technologies?English
3·3 years agoYeah I’m glad that some series (Pixel AFAIK) are now releasing slightly smaller phones, because the growth was getting ridiculous and highly impractical.

5·3 years agoAs Flash was known for it having more holes than a Swiss cheese, how is Ruffle in terms of security?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a true fact that is so misleading it's borderline misinformation?
91·3 years agoIf I remember correctly, dark roast was also originally devised to hide bad-quality coffee beans. Nowadays it is often implied that darker roasts are better, which actually isn’t necessarily the case.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?
2·3 years agoSustainable as interpreted by a non-techie bean counter looking at maximising next quarter’s profits and ignoring everything past that.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you think about bots that repost content from Reddit?English
1·3 years agoIn general, I really do not like this idea. Lemmy is Lemmy and should not, directly or indirectly, turn into Reddit.

Movies and TV Shows@lemmy.film•Suggestions on espionage/spy showsEnglish
1·3 years agoOh I didn’t know there was a series for A Spy Among Friends! I really enjoyed the book so this is definitely going at the top of my to-watch list!

2·3 years agoBoth are absolutely wonderful! Tinker Tailor is of course classic and a very good adaptation of the book.
Regarding The Man From U.N.C.L.E., I went in blind and really enjoyed it. As you say, it’s more an action movie than a nitty gritty spy film, but it’s a lot of fun!
Possibly related to this: Expect some brief restarts today (Jun 12 CET).

Technology@beehaw.org•Reddit experimenting with blocking mobile browsers
12·3 years agoThey act like everyone already uses reddit and the users are so addicted they’ll put up with anything.
To be honest, this may actually be true for a significant portion of the userbase.

Technology@beehaw.org•so, which Big Tech company do you think is going to shit the bed next and popularize its Fediverse/FOSS equivalent in the process?
4·3 years agoCompletely agree! Especially if it some kind of product support. I hate having to scroll through thousands of chronically ordered chat messages to find the solution to the problem I’m having.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite insult that doesn't sound like an insult?
2·3 years agoIn a similar vein, if something is written down: really nitpicking on grammatical and spelling mistakes and adding [sic] to quotes.

Technology@beehaw.org•Meta will be releasing a Twitter clone/competitor this summer. Will you join?English
7·3 years agoI think it is safe to assume that’s happening now anyway. As long as anyone can access the data at the moment, they will too.
Unfortunately websites can’t really go private :P
So after June 30th we will not have an idea about the state of things anymore… :P

Ehh, shootings even happen in Europe and coincidences too.
