You don’t want to sound like music that has one sound or line of melody being played by multiple instruments at the same time?

Yeah, it’s more of a “data exists, kind of.”
Conan was talking about this, either on his podcast or at the end of that last Norm special on Netflix. Apparently, he was booked for two segments, but thought he was only there for one, so he just improved this whole thing to fill in the time. Such a brilliant mind. What a huge loss.

I played Firewatch for a while a couple of years ago and LOVED it. Didn’t finish, not sure what happened but I just never got back to it. I think I’ve forgotten enough of it now that I can go back and start again and have a fresh experience. I’ve recommended this game to a few people and everyone has loved it. Some excellent twists and turns and fun little bits of mystery. Great writing!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What simple changes should people do in their lives to make a positive impact on climate change?
21·3 years agoAgreed. What people don’t realize is that if they were to actually follow those recommendations, then oil companies wouldn’t be responsible for as much pollution. We can say it’s the corporations that are doing it, but it’s all of us that are keeping these corporations in business and buying the products that pollute. If we all took personal responsibility, the corporations 'level of output would decline. This is ALL about personal responsibility and it is infuriating to watch people say “well it’s the corporations” all the time.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•Can we stop with this "boomer" sis joke?
11·3 years agoWhatever the age, if you act like a know it all privvy cunt everybody’s going to fuck you like a cunt.
Hey, this post is a great example of that very thing!
I feel sad for the people who bought into the ‘boomers are to blame’ propaganda. Very similar to the ‘they terk er jerbs’ crew. From this article:
Research by the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) from 2019 also suggests trouble for many retiring Boomers. IRI found that 45% have no retirement savings. Out of the 55% who do, 28% have less than $100,000. This suggests that approximately half of the retirees are, or will be, living off of their Social Security benefits.
I don’t know if you think that it was millenials who started planting trees, or protesting forestry policies and oil companies, but I’ve been getting arrested for that very thing since the 80s, along with a lot of my friends. People who, by the by, did not make the cut for home ownership. If you think it’s because everyone over 40 voted for this, I’d be curious to know who you’ve been voting for that is turning this around.
The people you want to be raging against are the rich people. Plain and simple. And if you’re such a simpleton as to believe that the problem is age, it probably doesn’t matter what you think at this point, anyway. But I wish you the best of luck!

World News@lemmy.world•Don't overstate 1.5 degrees C threat, new IPCC head says
51·3 years agoThe 70% that comes from corporations comes from people. The people who use the products that the corporations provide. So, if Exxon is one of those major polluters, that is based largely on the people who purchase Exxon products and use them.
This 70% number comes from a 2017 study that measured emissions from 1985-2015. So while those corporations are selling the product that pollutes, when we order some stupid shit from Amazon and it has to come from China on a ship to get here, we are responsible for using that product. When we get UberEats delivered, we are responsible. Ordinary people can fight that by not buying stupid shit we don’t need from China and in so many other ways. Yes, the corporations produce those products, but it is US that consumes it and we are ultimately responsible for the emissions. It’s a fun way to try to say “it’s not me, it’s them,” but the fact is, it’s all of us.

I was late for a flight once (in Canada) and they put a sticker on my luggage that said Retard. Just means late in French. You better believe I kept that sticker.
Totally agree. Someone posted some grey meat and potatoes on a plate with a bowl of soupy weird tomatoes and people seemed to think that was pretty awesome. Looked kind of sad and depressing to me.
