I would eat out of the pot instead. Now Im refined and I microwave the bowl of water to heat it up, once its close to boiling, drop the noodles in and put a lid on it to lock in the steam. Wait 5 minutes and were good to go.

4·15 days agoI really appreciate your posts. Many of our tastes overlap, but you have gotten very good at capturing the best angle of a game. Half the time I have to wonder; did I play the same game?

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada's forestry crisis should be blamed on homegrown problems, not Trump, federal report saysEnglish
3·21 days agoUnstable access is the biggest issue I’ve seen. It has led to markers moving away from lumber. The main problem with that is what is used instead Lumber is the only renewable resource weve got. Trees harvested in the 60s are ready to be harvested again. Can’t say that for mines. It really is a resource that needs to be managed. Not left to the businesses.

Canada@lemmy.ca•It will soon be mandatory for trucks in B.C. to have dashcamsEnglish
4·21 days agoThe bill as it is written doesn’t appear to be a problem. But the implementation needs to be monitored by those affected. A small company can grab a cheap dash cam from Amazon that has all sorts of capabilities that extend past what is currently allowed. And those features have a cost that is usually offset by selling data somehow. I found one model that didn’t have a mic as a feature, but it was available if a firmware patch was applied.

14·21 days agoThe specifics for pipa need to be followed. Video needs to be stored internally and securely. Not on the cloud in another country. The only people with access need to be defined. There should be no audio or video in the cab etc.
I’ve rewatched it twice since its initial run. It’s just short enough that nothing is really dragged out and most of the plot points are resolved etc. Not like X-files which is my main comparator to fringe

4·1 month agoYes, when the datacenters use up the resources, and take jobs away from people? We are trading the things people need to live, for slop. Those with the resources will get more and those without the resources will get less, and the divide will widen.

Games@lemmy.world•What is a game you can’t understand why its so popular ?English
1·1 month agoI think what’s happened here is, you are playing the games as shooters, room quake and unreal were not story driven games. It was either get the coloured key to progress, or kill everything between point a and b. All the newer games you listed have great story that drives the gameplay. And halo being the first real controller multiplayer experience brings a lot of nostalgia to people.
However it’s the same reason that I haven’t gotten on the ‘boomer shooter’ trend. They are essentially doing what you bring up. No added function or feature, they just feel like a reskin or mod of quake.
I bought mine straight from Bambu. Could smell burning electronics after 50p hours of use or so. Then it wouldn’t turn on. No interaction whatsoever. Contacted support, had to dismantle and send a few pics. A quick video of me plugging it in and the results. Then they shipped me a new power board. Installed it and carried on. It was very obvious what part had failed. I was frustrated at first but all told, it was a pretty good experience.

3·2 months agoIm doing the same on my steam deck. I wish there was a way to make the HUD/UI elements smaller. They do take a lot of real estate on the screen. And Dusk’s bloom is better than the original, but still very powerful!
Overall I am still enjoying! Play on!

Canada@lemmy.ca•Lawyers urge federal ban on U.S. forced labour imports, cars built by prisonersEnglish
20·2 months agoIn years past I learned about the American prison system and how it is a business used to legalize slavery after it was abolished. It removes a person’s ability to vote and encourages the prisons to be filled to capacity. Used as labour and paid pennies for the work. This reckoning has been a long time coming, and I am hopeful that their system changes.
I live in northern BC. They have advertisements for heat pumps on our local radio. When I was looking to upgrade our home furnace and install an air conditioner, I investigated the heat pump as an option.
The research I did found that I would need a secondary unit (gas furnace) for when the temperature went below -20°C when the efficiency would drop. And after -25°C it would not be able to keep up to heating the house.
As much as I would have liked to use one unit to heat and cool my home, the tech wasn’t there to get my family through the winter. We have weeks of -30 during the day and it is consistently -20 over night for 5 months a year.
Fingers crossed when the time comes to replace my furnace and AC units something else has been figured out.

Technology@lemmy.world•This is Android's new 'advanced flow' for sideloading apps without verification, includes one-day waiting periodEnglish
640·3 months agoIt looks like a glorified ‘developer mode’ switch that has the 1 day wait to prevent someone from grabbing your phone, turning on sideloading, installing some hazardous app, and then having their way with your info. This appears to be the best of both worlds.
Like when unlocking your bootloader wiped your info. Just do it first. not a year in to using your device, if thats your plan.

1·3 months agoAccording to your stats, by population Russia is over 3x the size of Ukraine. According to land mass Russia’s 17 million km² vs Ukraine’s .6 million km² is 28x larger.
Regardless of the metric, it’s a big difference.

I don’t see any handheld devices on there. I would argue that this question is about consoles not portables.
