Potato harvest is excellent this year! My tomatoes are okay, but I have not gotten as many as id like. Feel free to laugh with me on my pathetic corn lol
gardening is so legit. Learning more with each season :)
Im always planting potatoes though. Its beyond easy, and I absolutey enjoy the act of digging for the spuds. I was sad I had no more to dig!

What are you doing go do with your potatoes? Boil them? Mash them? Put them in a stew?
I wonder what the corn issue was. Too little cross-pollination?
Maybe corn is something that you need to break beyond a critical mass of total plants to get fully-developed ears?

Altho I was also thinking the other kernals look highly underdeveloped, or unpollinated.certainly. I only planted a few stalks of some heriloom variety.
Bugs are eating the corn. They stopped getting taller as soon as I posted about them here back in july. Grew, grew, grew, I made a post, they stopped growing lmao.
Its not happy corn. My first try, so its fine. I wasnt expecting any kind of harvest.
I’ve heard of people hand pollinating corn in smaller plots to get better ears!

You can do “quick pickles” with small potatoes, meaning you gently cook them first and then add them to brine for 24 hours and store them in the fridge for about a week.
They’re too starchy to do them raw in the traditional pickling method.

You can pickle any organic matter.
Whether it’s palatable or even edible after is an entire other matter.

Potatoes are! I think, yes! Everytime Ive grown potatoes, I just take some eyed out ones I legit get from the store. They just, grow.
You cut the potato so one (or two) eye is on each piece, and plant it in the ground with the eye facing up. They just grow. I took two potatoes, and made 8 plants.
I “mound” my potatoes once, about halfway through the season. you just push dirt up around the stalk of the plant. Then, when the leaves of the are mostly dead, pull it, and dig up the spuds!
I struggle with plenty in my garden. Not potatoes. Ive been told the soil in my state is great for potatoes naturally, so maybe thats why it is so easy for me, but yeah, very simple. :)
