Tom Jolliffe revisits Sam Raimi’s Darkman, released on this day back in 1990… Hot on the heels of Batman, Sam Raimi delivered Darkman unto the world. Raimi wouldn’t become synonymous with iconic comic book hero films until doing the game changing Spider-Man trilogy, but Darkman , whilst an original creation from Raimi’s mind, is a […]

Such a fun, campy movie where you get to see Neeson ham it up. Also worth a watch is The Quick & the Dead (1995) with young Leonardo DiCaprio and a pre Gladiator Russell Crowe. Visually, both are shot very much like a comic, which certainly helped Raimi to eventually land the Spider-Man series.

If anyone mentions Darkman to me, the first thing I have to say is, “Take the fucking elephant!” 😆

This movie rules. Excellent special effects, Sam Raimi doing his thing, the score, all of it.

    The sequels…not so good.

I didn’t particularly like it at the time, but that might have just been it wasn’t what I expected - should do a raimi-a-thon at some point and revisit.

I enjoyed it, my only real beef is the character origin is essentially the same as Swamp Thing… but whatever. It was fun!

This was one of our favorite movies as kids, and my brother and I would always make jokes referencing it.

“Take two of these and call me in the morning! Mwahahahahaha!”

RLM is talking about this movie is my only really experience with it. I often watch them take about movies I’ve never, and likely will never see.
