Ok I’ll explain better. First I don’t believe in souls, it was a way to express existence, my rationale is that you cannot say you did something for someone who doesn’t exist. So when people say, “I decided to have a son out of love for him” this cannot be, you might want to have a son, like gamer want to have GTA6, but the developers will not say “we decide to create GTA6 because we love GTA6” that wouldn’t make sense. I support freedom for all, if they wish to have 1001 kids they can do so, but let’s not be naive, people do it for many reasons but in my opinion none of those reasons are selfless. Also I happen to adhere to Benatar’s Asymmetry Argument. It states: -Pain is bad. Pleasure is good. -But absent pain is good — even if no one’s there to enjoy that absence. -Absent pleasure isn’t bad — unless someone exists to miss it. So: Existing = you get pain (bad) + pleasure (good). Never existing = no pain (good) + no missed pleasure (neutral, since no one’s deprived). Conclusion: non-existence never loses. Existence risks suffering for no matching benefit. So it’s better never to be born.

Yes that’s true, we see in developed countries where women get education and choice a lot of them decide not to have children. I am from the EU and even here me and my whife feel a lot of pressure from society to have children, it makes me quite angry, cause I am sure a lot of people end up giving into the pressure and having kids cause “It’s the thing to do” and not because they truly want to, I have seen it with my friends, we are all on our 30s. This pressure made me think even more about why would I want to have a kid, I have thought about a lot, and let me tell you, the future doesn’t seem to be favourable, plus, I have a genetic disorder that might get passed down to a kid.

I do not wish to make you feel bad, I actually love children and that is one of the reasons why I support what I do. Overpopulation is a real issue, If we want the future generation to have a chance we shouldn’t be having a lot of kids. We are already 8 billions, see the demographics studies, things start to go real bad after we surpass 10 billion humans. Also, think about it, the Right always want us to have more kids, so they can exploit them as they please. If future generations are less numerous, they would have the power to decide who they want to sell their labour to, instead of competing against each other for a minimum wage slave job. Not really, standing up to what you know is right, even when it gets you criticism, that is not selfish. Doing things cause people tell you to do and you don’t want to bother going against the flow cause it’s uncomfortable is pretty selfish. What obligation ? Our planet is over 8 billion people, do you think the human race is going extinct? It might very well go extinct if people keep pumping up children like there is no tomorrow, consequences and lack of resources be damn, I want a kid.

You are preaching to the priest, I am a socialist and fully support women’s rights. Billionaires shouldn’t exit period. But the fact of the matter is that feeding billions of people takes a toll on our planet, if you truly care about people you should recognize that we have surpassed our limits, 8 billions and counting is not sustainable for our planet, it would only lead to resource depletion and suffering. I know it’s hard to admit, cause there is a strong biological drive on us to have children, but the responsible choice is not to have, it is the more racional and compassionate choice
