Oh…yes this is very relatable some days. Big hugs to you if you need them.

Hey!
I’m new to piefed. I was a part of the Reddit migration originally. Since then, I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’m a behavior therapist by day. Otherwise a bit of an introvert/gamer. I’m always up for a conversation. Unless I’m asleep, which is earlier and earlier these days.

That’s a little too cold. Bundle up.
Yes, I love the snow. Nothing worse than this edging all winter/freezing rain.
I’ve barely had to wear my jacket this year yet in New England. No snow accumulation.I know it’s warming here faster than anywhere, but still.
I was playing wow until recently. My computer needs to be replaced. Once I do that, I was thinking about trying GW2.
Yeah. Fortunately I was already at the age where I was willing to become feral about my boundaries when this happened. Bites hurt a lot.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anyone done something small for you that helped you in a big way that they did not realize?English
3·3 天前A stranger helped me carry something into a store. And saved me the embarrassment of taking it in a few steps at a time. I was really struggling with it… It wasn’t something most people would struggle with but…yeah. They were very kind to do so. I will probably think about that for a long time.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you raise siblings in a way that they don't hate each other?English
9·3 天前A lot of good answers here. Being a good model, correcting behavior, treating siblings with equity.
You cannot control everything though. They will have lived experiences outside of the control of their parent, good and bad friends, teachers, etc. They may be born with different medical conditions. All this is impactful in shaping a person, and how flexible they are.

832·4 天前Rejection is the antecedent for many behaviors, which are often dangerous. So we try a lot of ways to make it impersonal, kind, soften the blow…etc.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you personally use upvotes/downvotes?English
15·4 天前Upvote: Things I like or find interesting, other people’s OC and effortful posts (even if it’s not my thing), genuine stuff that makes the community thrive
Downvote: People who are super rude, antisocial content/communication, reportable stuff, misinformation.
I have a couple of users blocked.
Going to remember this post if I ever meet someone irl who uses Linux. :p
I feel a little scared imagining that lol. I gotta have my bob ross everything is fine scritch scritch happy clouds.
Nothing fancy. Date one after a couple weeks of talking. I made it clear I wasn’t down for physical shenanigans yet. After a drink he got a tiny bit handsy. Second drink, he moved to my side of the table and tried to get very handsy. I paid my half, said I was ready to leave without becoming confrontational. He clearly thought my boundaries had changed with a couple of weak drinks. On the walk to the car, he continuously tried to bully me into kissing him (absolutely not) and then tried to shove me in his car after pressuring me into a hug goodbye. I bit him on the titty and drove home like a maniac.
Yeah this is me as well. I just overthink for hours without a distraction. Give me a phone or something to watch and I’m out in 15 minutes honestly. I feel bad because I know I’m probably degrading my sleep but…as least I’m sleeping.
Just go by your middle name. No need to explain to anyone your personal business. Only assholes are going to insist on calling you something non preferred.
I have money and stuff and I’m where I always wanted to be kinda, but everything hurts. And I could just sleep.

2·7 天前Okay, that’s fair. How about when people ask you for food recipes after comment reply that’s in context? Are bots that good?

6·7 天前It’s like being called an NPC isn’t it

No, not really.
I mean… I think there are variables that predict our life outcomes, at least the odds of them.
Things like where we are born, who are parents are, our environment all have roles in the experiences we will have throughout our entire lives.
Behavior is somewhat predictable once you study it as a science. So I guess it could seem rather scripted when you figure it like that.
