I don’t think algorithms are inherently bad, honestly I think the lack of an algorithm holds the fediverse back. On lemmy, sorting by popular creates an okish feed, enough to familiarize yourself with different comms, but on mastodon and the like, it can feel empty. While algorithms are associated with corporatism, an opt in adapted to fediverse sensibilities algorithm, could make some fedi apps more accessible.

Technology@lemmy.world•RedNote may wall off “TikTok refugees” to prevent US influence on Chinese usersEnglish
12·1 year agoLmao, way to go, I’m not even Mexican. You said the US was leading the charge and included racism, that’s a silly statement, so I pointed out the absurdity of it.
Mexico is culturally western, but not white, ergo, not politically western. And Australia, you’re British diaspora from a country constantly attacking the aboriginals through even their votes. While Mexico can be lacking, they’re the ones with a female president and abortion rights, so again, the americans leading the charge is a humorous statement.

49·1 year agoMexico had their first black president in 1829 and abolished slavery. The US was a century too late to lead such a thing. Your comment reeks of western chauvinism.

31·2 years agoLol, I’m skeptical in general, but following the drama, I struggle to read these kinds of comments as something other than “Running with our tails in between our legs is dunking, if we say it enough times it’ll be true!” I mean, .world literally has a Zionist bot in media bias fact checker that makes sure to ever so slightly move .world in a more fascist direction every day, .world and it’s sub-instances like .ca have no legs to stand on.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux smashes another market share record for August 2024 on StatcounterEnglish
8·2 years agoAt the end of the day it’s still good news. The accuracy isn’t important as is overall visibility and status in the public conscious. Folks downplay steamdeck, deepin, and chrome os, but more usage even if limited can cause a significant snowball effect which I believe will happen with steam os being formalized. The linux challenge and proton have, and will continue to do wonders for linux in the public conscious, eventually leading to better support.

This is coming from experience in marketing.

It’s different, probably worse. Despite the propaganda, immigrants are usually selfless and their family rely on them. For the most part the scary bit is not prison, but knowing their family may starve or that they won’t see them again.
